Dear Colleague, Please note that\u00a0two paid postdoctoral research associate positions\u00a0in the fields of\u00a0cardiac imaging, cardio-metabolism\/immunology,\u00a0cardiac (electro)physiology, cardiovascular pathology\u00a0& bioengineering are\u00a0now available\u00a0in my laboratory\u00a0at the Cedars-Sinai’s\u00a0Biomedical Imaging Research Institute in Los Angeles.\u00a0 In years to come, the goal is to build on the recently published paper in\u00a0Nat Commun(https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41467-022-33776-x): \ue740\u00a0 Intramyocardial hemorrhage drives fatty degeneration of infarcted myocardium – Nature Communications It is unclear why hemorrhagic myocardial infarctions (hMI) are destined for adverse outcomes. Here, the authors show that hMI drives fatty degeneration of infarct territories and contributes to adverse remodeling of the heart, which can be mitigated via timely depletion of iron within the hMI zone. www.nature.com I am\u00a0seeking candidates who are willing to commit to\u00a0at least 2 years\u00a0of work on their respective projects. Given the translational & interdisciplinary nature of the work using large animal models (farm pigs, Yukatan minipigs, etc.) and state of the art\u00a0clinical\u00a0imaging modalities (hybrid 3.0T PET\/MRI scanner),\u00a0the ideal time frame for this position would be 3 years. The successful applicant will be expected to participate as lead author in publications arising from this work and to communicate findings in oral presentations at national and international conferences. Strong emphasis will be placed on career development, communication skills, grantsmanship, and interdisciplinary research.\u00a0 Qualified applicants for the open positions should have a recent MD, PhD or MD\/PhD degree and a strong research interest in cardiovascular sciences.
